The Pioneer PDP51FD BLURAY Player is an excellent BLURAY player, especially for the price on Amazon. It is not quite as good in video or audio quality as the Pioneer Elite BDP05FD, but then the Pioneer Elite player is much more expensive. Save your money and buy the PDP51FD.

not worth the money

I've owned this model for 3 months now and really hate it. It frequently freezes when turning on which means I'm forever resetting it to use it AND not getting the shows I program it to record. What's the point of owning a DVD recorder if it doesn't record???

Good system but flaws
3 / 5.0
I've used this product daily for about 7 months and generally, this is a good product with good reliable features. Nice machine to copy all of your VHS to DVD and to record TV shows on. However, the system freezes periodically in between functions to where there is only the red circle indicator on the display and no button pushed will get it to operate in any way. Can't even open up the disc player or even turn it off! The only way I can get it to unfreeze, is to unplug the machine and plug it back in. It does not seem to freeze during playback or recording, but I would think for the price, it would not have such issues like freezing. I like that it has a built in digital tuner, so therefore you can watch all your over the air shows through this device instead of a converter box.

What a joke this is.

So far, to date, I have used 2 of them from Costco.

I took the first one back because it turned into some kinda pink tint mode.

Now the second one is doing the same thing the first one did.

The digital tuner pictures are all pink, and it recorded it in pink tint as well.

And whats up with the total freeze out when it has a reading problem???

I had to unplug it and spend about 10 minutes trying to make it play again.

I am soooo done with Panasonic junk.

DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!!! PLEASE.

Have had this product for about a month now and found it to be in great working order. Takes a little to get used to but once you know how to work it...the product preforms well.

With VHS on its way out and DVDs approaching that as well I find myself converting technology from past to present easier with the VHS to DVD transfer modes offered. Taking all my old family movies and putting them onto DVD saves space and maintains the quality for viewing.

I would recommend this product as advertised.

Panasonic DMR-EZ485VK 1080p Upconverting DVD Recorder / VCR Combo with Built In Tuner

This unit surpassed my expectations after a previous bad experience with a Panasonic hard drive DVR. For the past six months it has performed as stated in the manual and the digital tuner pulls in all the necessary local stations via my attic-mounted antenna. Although other reviews have reported problems which require rebooting the unit, I have had no such malfunction once I set the "Quick Start" function to OFF. It takes a few extra seconds to turn the unit on, but it operates trouble-free.

There is a quirk when using DVD-RW discs, however. After recording the disc pretty much full, deleting unwanted content doesn't seem to free up all the space it previously occupied. This doesn't appear to be the case when using DVD-RAM discs, though.

This is probably one of the better combo VHS/DVRs.

Editorial Review
Enjoy highest-quality images that are free from annoying blank spots on the LCD screen. LCD displays commonly have imperfections, termed as 'bright dots' by the LCD industry. A limited number of bright dots were once considered an inevitable side effect of LCD mass production. With Philips' strict quality control procedures used in our Portable DVD Players, our LCD displays are produced with zero tolerance for bright dots. Select Portable DVD Players come with Philips Zero Bright Dot? Policy to guarantee optimal screen quality.

With DivX? support, you are able to enjoy DivX? encoded videos in the comfort of your living room. The DivX? media format is an MPEG4-based video compression technology that enables you to save large files like movies, trailers and music videos on media like CD-R/RW, memory cards and DVD-video. DivX? CDs can be played back on selected DVD players, DVD Recorders and Home Theater Systems.

Other standard features include:
  • Built-in quality stereo speakers.
  • Share entertainment fun with dual headphone jacks.
  • Car adaptor and slim remote control.
  • Contemporary precision design with piano-white top cover.

Worked great, for about 1 year

Good product for the price. The screen image was good, not great. The battery life was decent, good enough to watch 2 movies during our flight from Chicago to LA. It worked good and seemed rugged.

However, just after 1 year, it died. It would read the disc. I tried everything to got it to work, but no luck.

perfect for portability and kids
5 / 5.0
we bought this dvd player for our baby while he was hospitalized. we have had no problems with it. works great. while other reviewers complain about resolution, initial start-up noise, etc, we have no complaints. since the player was purchased with children in mind, these are no issues to us. i personally don't find the start-up noise that loud. the same as any other dvd player starting. my 16yr old (high-tech teen) thinks the resolution is fine. of course it's not HD, but perfect for excellent quality video viewing. we are extremely happy with this player. it is well built. we would buy another in a heartbeat if needed!! buy with confidence that your getting a great player.

Best DVD player for the money
5 / 5.0
I did a lot of research before making this purchase. For the money, this is the best! I bought mine on sale for just over $100. It is very sturdy, and nice looking. More importantly, the screen image is sharp and clear. It also has very loud speakers- a feature that many other DVD players in higher price ranges don't. I wanted something with a longer battery life, but to get more than 4 hours, it is very pricey. This one tested out at 3.75 hours. The recharge time is somewhere around 5 hours. I have found that the battery life has been more than I've needed for my toddler on plane trips. I was concerned about the screen size (bigger is better, right?) but really, since my toddler is watching it at less than 3 feet, its great. This is a very user friendly device. Easy to start right away, and easy to plug into a tv to watch videos. This is great when we are staying at hotels. I also bought a pair of califone headphones (about $12), which my toddler LOVES. I would highly recommend these for parents traveling with children.

I have no complaints, I have used this in the car, in the air, and at home. There is a somewhat "loud" whirring upon startup, but really not enough to worry over. I would recommend this to family and friends!

Philips PET724 not working
1 / 5.0
It is very sad to see that after just three and four usage of the DVD player. It has stopped working. I have charged the battery but nothing is comming on the screen. It is dead. I have gone through all the manual and nothing is mentioned there also

I have been dupped.

Portable DVD - Philips PET724 7"
4 / 5.0
This is the first portable DVD player I've owned or used. Have enjoyed its use. However, I find that the sound quality isn't great; in particular the volume at its maximum isn't terribly loud. Soft dialogue is sometimes hard to hear. Would recommend ear phones.
